Thank you for your interest in applying to adopt from Woof Animal Rescue!
Adoption Requirements:

Do we adopt out of state? Yes, we DO! All members of the household human and canine must be present at the meet & greet in Illinois. You will be responsible for transportation home with your newly adopted dog. We are based out of Lemont, IL and have foster homes all throughout Illinois. If the dog is not fully vetted, adopters must live within 1hr to be able to make appointments with our Partner vets to become fully vetted.

Everyone living in your household must be in agreement on adopting.

Adopters must be at least 21 years of age.

We do not adopt our dogs out to be livestock guarding dogs or outside dogs.

Must go through the adoption approval process by Woof before meeting our adoptable dogs.

All resident dogs must be spayed/neutered, unless your dog has a medical condition that prohibits spay/neuter. A letter from your veterinarian must be obtained.

All resident dogs must be up to date on: Rabies Vaccine, DHPP vaccines, Monthly Flea/Tick, Heartworm Prevention & have a yearly heartworm test.
Once you've filled out an adoption application:
Someone will contact you by phone call, text or email to schedule a phone interview.
We will call your vet & also do reference checks. Please let them know we’ll be calling to ensure a smooth process.
Once these steps are completed satisfactorily you will receive an approval from us and a meet & greet will be set up.
We do take multiple applications per dog and the dog you applied for may be adopted by the time you are approved, if this is the case we will send you an email or contact you via phone letting you know. We are not a first come first serve. If you are selected for a meet and greet with one of our dogs, please plan to adopt on that same day. We do not hold dogs and if you arrive to the meet and greet without all humans and canine(s) that live in the home you will not be able to adopt and we will move onto the next applicant. We ONLY accept Zelle/PayPal/credit/debit card as a form payment for your adoption fee donation. We DO NOT accept checks. We also do not accept payment plans.

What is included in the adoption fee?
All of Woofs adoptable dogs will be spayed/neutered as early as 6 months & prior to finalizing an adoption (unless it needs to be delayed for health reasons, in which case you will sign a spay/neuter (vetting)contract), up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchip with free lifetime registration through 24 Pet Watch, a Heartworm test on age-appropriate dogs. Please bring a leash and collar for your new dog should you adopt.
Heartworm Positive Dogs:
Dogs that are Heartworm Positive and currently receiving Heartworm Treatment, Woof, will cover all heartworm treatment costs after adoption. The adopter IS responsible for purchasing the monthly preventative needed & transporting the adopted dog to and from our partner vet office for all appointments. The location we use is in Naperville, IL. You will discuss prior to adoption with the foster home about the process. For further questions email woof.medical@gmail.com

Your application will stay on file for 1 year, there is no need to reapply.

Woof rescues dogs in need come from many areas such as, but not limited to: Out-of-state rescue partners, breeder releases, county animal controls throughout the state of IL and surrounding states and owner surrenders.

Woof Animal Rescue makes no guarantee as to the temperament, or physical condition of the Adoptee, and cannot guarantee or make claim as to the breed or genealogy of the Adoptee. The Adoptee is being adopted AS IS. The adopting party acknowledges that although the adopted pet has received medical attention as well as temperament testing, Woof cannot guarantee and make no claims to the temperament, breed or genealogy, or behavior of the adopted pet, nor is the pet guaranteed to be free of any unforeseen illnesses, genetic or health defects. This animal is adopted in AS IS condition.

We make NO guarantee the dog you applied for will still be available by the time your application is approved.

To promote healthy emotional & behavioral development, Woof does not adopt out sibling puppies of the same gender into the same household. This policy is in place to reduce the risk of behavioral challenges commonly associated with littermate syndrome.
